SECURITY COUNCIL PRESS STATEMENT ON IRAQ

Following is a press statement on Iraq, delivered today by Security Council President Wang Guangya (China):

The Council members welcome the formation of the transitional government of Iraq envisaged in resolution 1546.

The Council members deplore the violence in Iraq and encourage all the Iraqi political forces to continue the inclusive political process and dialogue for the best interests of the Iraqi people.
