Following are UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ remarks to the United Nations Security Council open debate on “Countering Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism by Strengthening Cooperation between the United Nations and Regional Organizations and Mechanisms”, in New York today:
On 27 March 2023, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1518 (2003) removed the following entry from its Sanctions List of individuals and entities.
On 10 March 2023, the Panel of Experts on Haiti briefed the members of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2653 (2022) in connection with the Panel’s interim report, which was submitted in pursuance of paragraph 21(c) of resolution 2653 (2022).
On 3 March 2023, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1970 (2011) concerning Libya held informal consultations to consider the interim report of its Panel of Experts, pursuant to paragraph 13 of resolution 2644 (2022).
On 15 March 2023, the entries below on the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban, and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 2610 (2021) were amended following the 2021 Annual Review conducted in accordance with paragraphs 90 and 91 of resolution 2610 (2021).
On 20 February 2023, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2140 (2014) held informal consultations to consider the final report of the Panel of Experts, submitted in accordance with paragraph 16 of resolution 2624 (2022) (S/2023/130).
On 9 March 2023, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1518 (2003) removed the following entries from its Sanctions List of individuals and entities:
On 17 February 2023, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolution 751 (1992) concerning Al-Shabaab held its first informal consultations of the year to meet with the Panel of Experts on Somalia renewed by resolution 2662 (2022).
On 1 March 2023, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1533 (2004) enacted the amendments, specified with strikethrough and/or underline, in the entry below on its Sanctions List of individuals and entities.
