Many people dream of peace in the world.  Few devote their lives, hearts and minds to trying to make that dream come true.  John Wallach was one of those few.

SECRETARY-GENERAL EXPRESSES GRIEF AT SENEGAL FERRY DISASTER


This statement was issued on 28 September by the Spokesman for Secretary-General Kofi Annan:


The Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the news that hundreds of people are feared drowned after a Senegalese passenger ferry capsized off the coast of the Gambia in a violent storm.  He expresses his heartfelt condolences to the Government, families and friends of the victims.
