ISTANBUL, Turkey, 12 June -- Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali this morning addressed the high-level segment of the second United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II).
Following is the text of a statement made by Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali at the opening of the High-Level Segment of the second United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II), Istanbul, Turkey, 12 June:
ISTANBUL, 6 June -- Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali and Mr. Rauf Denktash conducted an extensive review of all aspects of the Cyprus problem today. The two men met for over an hour in Istanbul. Following the meeting, the Secretary-General said he would be meeting with Mr. Glafcos Clerides in Geneva on 11 June.
ISTANBUL, 6 June -- Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali today met with Mr. Rauf Denktash for one hour and fifteen minutes, during which they conducted an extensive review of all aspects of the Cyprus problem. On 11 June, he will meet with Mr. Glafcos Clerides in Geneva.
ISTANBUL, Turkey, 5 June -- Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, in Turkey to inaugurate the United Nations Conference for Human Settlements (Habitat II), was shocked to learn of the murder yesterday of three Swiss workers from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Burundi. He condemns this wanton act of violence in the strongest terms.
