GENEVA, 4 April (UN Information Service) -- Senior officials from Papua New Guinea and Togo told the Commission on Human Rights this morning of measures taken by their Governments to further human rights promotion and protection in their countries.
* Secretary-General sending special envoy to Liberia to assess situation; Liberia itself reported calmer but still tense.
* Secretary-General back in Headquarters after three-nation Asian mission.
* Concerned over fighting in Liberia, Secretary-General appeals to fighting factions to desist from escalating violence.
