The States parties to the Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination at their thirty-seventh meeting this morning elected nine members of to the committee charged with monitoring implementation of the Convention.
The General Assembly is composed of all 188 United Nations Member States. The States, and the dates on which they became Members, are listed in Press Release ORG/1289 issued 15 September 1999.
SECURITY COUNCIL
This afternoon the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations continued to review groups applications for consultative status in the Economic and Social Council, and also considered requests for reclassification by those groups that already had been granted consultative status.
