The Secretary-General arrived in Jakarta from Singapore late in the morning of Tuesday, 15 February. He began his official programme in Indonesia in the early afternoon with a one-on-one meeting with Foreign Minister Alwi Shihab.

Following is the text of todays address by Secretary-General Kofi Annan to the people of Darwin, Australia:
Let me say how glad I am to be in Darwin. This is my first visit to Australia. As I am fresh off the plane from East Timor, it is fitting that Darwin should be my first port of call.
The General Assemblys Ad Hoc Committee established by General Assembly resolution 51/210 of 17 December 1996, which is elaborating a comprehensive legal framework of conventions dealing with international terrorism, concluded its fourth session this afternoon with the adoption of its report.
The General Assemblys Ad Hoc Committee on terrorism this afternoon began considering the draft report on its fourth session, which is scheduled to end later today.
