GENEVA, 30 July (UN Information Service) -- The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination this morning started its summer session by adopting its agenda and programme of work.


Most of the Committee's morning session was devoted to discussion on a study written by a Canadian academician on the functioning of United Nations treaty bodies.

BONN DECISIONS PROMISE TO SPEED ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE

BONN, 27 July (UNFCCC) -- Climate change negotiators are departing Bonn today after concluding work on an array of detailed decisions, some completed, others well advanced.  These decisions are based on last Monday’s historic political agreement and will help guide the international response to climate change for many years to come.

PREPARATORY COMMITTEE OF WORLD CONFERENCE AGAINST RACISM TO MEET IN GENEVA


GENEVA, 27 July (UN Information Service) -- The Preparatory Committee for the World Conference against Racism will meet from 30 July to 10 August in Geneva, to finalize its work on the draft declaration and programme of action to be considered by the World Conference in Durban from 31 August to 7 September of this year.
