HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS APPROVES AROUND $7.8 MILLION

IN GRANTS FOR TORTURE SURVIVORS


GENEVA, 15 July (Office of the UNHCHR) -- United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson has approved, on behalf of the Secretary-General, grants amounting to around $7.8 million to organizations supporting survivors of torture.

ADVISORY BOARD ON DISARMAMENT MATTERS TO MEET IN GENEVA, 17 - 19 JULY


NEW YORK, 15 July (Department for Disarmament Affairs) -- The Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters will meet for a three-day closed session in Geneva from 17 to 19 July 2002.  Its last session was held in New York from 30 January to 1 February 2002.  The Board meets twice a year.

Unanimous Action Also Authorizes Continuation of Stabilization Force


The Security Council decided this evening to extend the mandate of the United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH), including the International Police Task Force (IPTF), until 31 December 2002.
