At midday on Friday, 18 October, Secretary-General Kofi Annan flew to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, becoming the first United Nations Secretary-General to visit that country.
On Thursday afternoon, 17 October, Secretary-General Kofi Annan arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan’s new capital.
