SECRETARY-GENERAL APPOINTS PIERRE SCHORI AS NEW

 

SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR CÔTE D’IVOIRE


The Secretary-General has decided to appoint Pierre Schori of Sweden to succeed Albert Tévoédjrè as his Special Representative for Côte d’Ivoire, effective 1 April 2005.  Mr. Schori has been a Distinguished Visiting Professor at AdelphiUniversity in New York since 2004.

GENEVA, 4 March (UN Information Service) -- Representatives of national institutions, governments and civil society from throughout the Arab region will meet in Cairo from 6 to 8 March to discuss establishing or strengthening national institutions for the promotion and protection of human rights.
