TECHNOLOGY FOR GREEN GROWTH TO BE SHOWCASED DURING conference
IN SEOUL, 24 - 26 MARCH
Environmental Technology Seen As Key
To Achieving Environmentally Sustainable Economic Growth

BANGKOK, 24 March (UN Information Services) -- As part of the Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development (MCED) 2005, a forum on environmental technology will be held from 24 to 26 March in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
The Forum will feature displays of environmental technologies and include presentations on the related issues such as water quality, air quality, and waste management.
Presentation topics include policy for development and promotion of new environmental technology, trends of new environmental technology, and good practices of environmental technology.
Participants of note include Sun Suk Park, Vice-Minister, Ministry of Environment, Republic of Korea; Man Hee Lee, Chairman, Korea Environmental Management Cooperation; Oleg V. Shipin, Professor, Asian Institute of Technology; Hong Khanh Nguyen, Deputy Director of Environmental Technology Institute, Viet Nam; and Youn Soon Ahn, Director of Environmental Technology Division, Ministry of Environment, Republic of Korea, as well as Korean professors, researches, and businessmen.
Private sector participants include Tomoe (Japan), Veolia Water System Korea (France), and several Korean companies, including Hanhwa, Hyuseong, Samsung, and Korea Electric Company.
Participants will also have an opportunity to visit a landfill site in Seoul that was converted into the WorldCupPark.
The Environmental Technology Forum will be held in the Sapphire Ballroom (#4), 3F of the Lotte Hotel Seoul. MCED delegates are invited to attend.
