SECRETARY-GENERAL APPOINTS ENVOYS FOR SEPTEMBER SUMMIT

 


The Secretary-General is pleased to announce the appointment of their Excellencies Dermot Ahern, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ireland; Ali Alatas, former Foreign Minister of Indonesia; Joaquin Chissano, former President of Mozambique; and Ernesto Zedillo, former President of Mexico, as his Envoys for the Summit to take place in New York in September 2005.

SECURITY COUNCIL EXTENDS UN OPERATION IN CÔTE D’IVOIRE UNTIL 4 MAY,

 

UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTING RESOLUTION 1594 (2005)

 


The Security Council decided this afternoon to extend for one month, until 4 May 2005, the mandate of the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI) and the French forces supporting it.

DECOLONIZATION COMMITTEE DELEGATION Concludes visit TO BERMUDA

 


NEW YORK, 4 April (Department of Political Affairs) -- A delegation from the Special Committee on decolonization led by Julian R. Hunte of Saint Lucia, ended its four-day visit to Bermuda on 31 March 2005.  The invitation was extended by the United Kingdom, as the administering Power, on the request of the Bermuda Independence Commission, and supported by the Government of Bermuda.
