BUNIA, 17 March (OCHA) -- The spate of violent attacks in Ituri District in recent days has left thousands more people homeless, many of whom are now seeking shelter in cramped makeshift camps in the area.
The UN Secretary-General travelled from Spain to Israel for an official visit, with a day and a half layover in Geneva, Switzerland.

SECURITY COUNCIL EXTENDS UN ADVANCE MISSION IN SUDAN UNTIL 24 MARCH,
UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTING RESOLUTION 1588 (2005)
Reaffirming its readiness to support the peace process in the Sudan, the Security Council this morning extended the mandate of the United Nations Advance Mission in Sudan (UNAMIS) until 24 March by unanimously adopting resolution 1588 (2005).
