Following are UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s remarks to the London Conference on Somalia, today, 23 February:

On 23 February 2012, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011) enacted the amendments specified with strikethrough and underline in the entries below on its Al-Qaida Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 1989 (2011) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Ayşe Cihan Sultanoğlu of Turkey as Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (RBEC) at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Ms. Sultanoğlu will replace Kori Udovički.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Jens Wandel of Denmark as Assistant Administrator and Director of the Bureau of Management at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Mr. Wandel will replace Akiko Yuge.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Sima Sami Bahous of Jordan as Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Ms. Bahous will replace Amat Alsoswa.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Kate Gilmore of Australia as Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director (Programme) of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Ms. Gilmore will replace Purnima Mane. The Secretary-General is grateful to Ms. Mane for her dedicated service to UNFPA.
