The following statement by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was issued today:

The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will convene the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People at the United Nations Office in Vienna (Vienna International Centre) in Boardroom D of Building C on 31 March and 1 April.

NEW YORK, 23 March (Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea) — The Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf held its thirty-seventh session at United Nations Headquarters from 2 February to 20 March 2015.  Besides the two weeks of plenary meetings (9 to 13 February and 9 to 13 March), the Commission, working through its Subcommissions, devoted five weeks to the technical examination of submissions at the Geographic Information Systems laboratories and other technical facilities of the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea.

Following is UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s message for International Day of Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, observed on 4 April:

On 23 March 2015, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011) approved the addition of the entry specified below to its Al-Qaida Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 2161 (2014) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.

On the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, a permanent memorial to honour these victims will be unveiled at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 25 March.

The United Nations observes on 25 March the eighth International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
