The Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) this afternoon approved a draft resolution reaffirming that 28 February 1999 was the deadline for phasing out staff loaned to the United Nations by Governments and other entities.
Sixty-seven nuclear-weapon tests were carried out in the Marshall Islands over 12 years without the population knowing the true extent of personal injuries and environmental damage caused by the nuclear blasts, the Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization) was told this afternoon as it began its consideration of the effects of atomic radiation.
