The new Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations, Cristian Espinosa Cañizares, presented his credentials to the Secretariat today.

On 23 September, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director David Beasley and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General Qu Dongyu announced the appointment of Gina Casar of Mexico as WFP Senior Adviser at the Assistant Secretary-General level.

On 21 September, UN Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Zahira Virani of Canada as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Angola, with the host Government’s approval.

On 21 September, UN Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Babatunde Ahonsi of Nigeria as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone, with the host Government’s approval.

On 14 September, UN Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Arnaud Peral of France as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Tunisia, with the host Government’s approval.

The new Permanent Representative of Tunisia to the United Nations, Tarek Ladeb, presented his credentials to the Secretariat today.

On 17 June 2020, the United Nations General Assembly elected Volkan Bozkir of Turkey as President of its seventy-fifth session, which runs from September 2020 to September 2021.

On 27 August, UN Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Lena Savelli of Sweden as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Ecuador, with the host Government’s approval.

On 1 September, UN Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Matthias Z. Naab of the United States, who holds a dual citizenship as he was born in Ghana, as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cameroon, with the host Government’s approval.

On 4 September, UN Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Fiona McCluney of the United Kingdom as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Albania, with the host Government’s approval.
