​​​​​​​On 7 June 2022, the United Nations General Assembly elected Csaba Kőrösi of Hungary as President of its seventy-seventh session, which runs from September 2022 until September 2023.  (See Press Release GA/12422.)

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Ivana Živković of Croatia as Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director, Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Volker Türk of Austria as the next United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, following approval by the General Assembly. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Roza Otunbayeva of Kyrgyzstan as his new Special Representative for Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Abdoulaye Bathily of Senegal as his Special Representative for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Miklos Gaspar of Hungary as Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia.  Mr. Gaspar assumed his duties on 2 September.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Imran Riza of Pakistan as his Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon, in the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL), and Resident Coordinator for Lebanon.  Mr. Riza will also serve as Humanitarian Coordinator.
