Economic and Social Council Reschedules Session of Expert Committee on International Tax Cooperation, Endorses Appointment for Subsidiary Body, UN Research Institute
The Economic and Social Council today rescheduled the twenty-eighth session of the Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters in New York to 19-22 March 2024 to accommodate a one-day special meeting on 18 March.
Adopting decisions (document E/2024/45), as orally revised, the Council decided on the session’s new dates and approved its provisional agenda. The 54-member organ also decided to convene its one-day special meeting on international cooperation in tax matters on the eve of, not the day after, the session (document E/2024/L.3).
Turning to personnel nominations (document E/2024/9/Add.14), the Council endorsed the appointment of Patricia Arriagada Villouta (Chile) to the Committee of Experts on Public Administration to fill the remaining portion of the term of office held by Marta Acosta Zúñiga (Costa Rica) through 31 July 2025, following the latter’s resignation.
In other decisions (document E/2023/30/Add.1), the Council endorsed the appointment of Deborah Lyons (Canada) to the Board of Trustees of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute and took note of the Report of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice on its reconvened thirty-second session.
The Council also took note of the Report of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs on its reconvened sixty-sixth session (document E/2023/28/Add.1).
