Solidarity Only Way to Build More Just, Green, Healthy Societies, Says Deputy Secretary-General in Message for 'Global Week to Act'
Following is the text of UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed’s video message for the Global Week to Act for the Sustainable Development Goals, today:
Dear friends,
Six years after the world came together to agree a new global blueprint for action, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, we are at a critical time for the world. If the last two years have shown anything, it is that solidarity is the only way to keep the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and build more just, green and healthy societies.
The crises we face, from the COVID-19 pandemic to the climate emergency, make the SDGs more relevant than ever. We must make the end of the pandemic into the start of something truly incredible — a recovery puts us back on to stay the course to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
If ever there was a moment to turn things around, to re-imagine and create a better world, that moment is now. Keep flipping the script, rewriting the rules and changing the story. Your actions matter. Together, we can make a difference. The Global Week to Act for the SDGs is our mobilization moment. Join millions of people around the world to show what change looks like. Thank you.
