Secretary-General Applauds Government of Colombia, Revolutionary Armed Forces on Reaching Historic Milestone in Peace Process

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres:

The Secretary-General congratulates the Government of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP) for reaching another historic milestone today in their peace process.

The Secretary-General is pleased that the United Nations, through the work of its Mission in Colombia, has been able to support the successful implementation of the ceasefire and the laying down of arms agreements.  He assures the Government and people of Colombia that the United Nations will continue to support implementation of the peace agreement, as required, in the next stages of the process.
