New Permanent Representative of Republic of Moldova Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations, Victor Moraru, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.

A career diplomat, Mr. Moraru most recently served as Deputy Director of the General Department for Multilateral Cooperation in the Republic’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs and European Integration, prior to which he was the country’s Ambassador to Switzerland from 2012 to 2016.  Between 2011 and 2016, he also served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva.

His other Government postings have included Ambassador at Large for Global Affairs between 2010 and 2011, Chief Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister between 2009 and 2010, and Counsellor/Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations Office in Geneva between 2006 and 2009.

Mr. Moraru received a Master of Science in selection and genetics at the Agricultural Institute, Chisinau, and a Master of Arts in international relations at the National School for Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest, Romania.

Born on 1 December 1961, he is married and has two children.
