Secretary-General Condemns Terrorist Attack in Philippines

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General condemns the attack carried out Friday in Davao City in the Philippines, where an explosion in a night market place killed at least 12 people and injured dozens.  The Secretary-General stresses the need to ensure accountability and to bring to justice the perpetrators of these terrorist attacks.

The Secretary-General extends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.  He stands with the Government and people of the Philippines.
