United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, in the afternoon of Thursday, 8 December. He met with the President of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki, and the Foreign Minister of Kenya, Moses Wetangula. They discussed the situations in Somalia, in Sudan and South Sudan. The next morning, the Secretary-General left for Mogadishu on an unannounced visit to the Somali capital.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Bonn on Sunday, 4 December, where he was welcomed at City Hall by Lord Mayor Jürgen Nimptsch. There, he also met with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle. The Secretary-General thanked the German Government for holding the Conference on Afghanistan, which provided a vital opportunity to refocus attention on the civilian aspects of transition in Afghanistan, essential to ensuring a sustainable transformation.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, accompanied by Mrs. Ban Soon-taek, arrived in Busan, the second city of the Republic of Korea, on the evening of Tuesday, 29 November, after a flight from New York with a transfer in Seoul. The main aim of the visit was to attend the fourth High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness, co-hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

His first stop there was at a health clinic, where he immunized a child against polio and met with pregnant women and health workers.

At the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit in Cannes, on 3 and 4 November, the Secretary-General urged the G-20 leaders to deliver united leadership to address the urgent problems of the world economy, and welcomed the efforts at the Cannes Summit in this regard.
