SECURITY COUNCIL EXTENDS MINURSO MANDATE TO 31 JANUARY 2003


The Security Council, stressing that the search for a political solution is critically needed to resolve the dispute over Western Sahara, this afternoon authorized the extension of the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) for a further six months until 31 January 2003.

SECURITY COUNCIL EXTENDS UNIFIL MANDATE TO 31 JANUARY 2003


The Security Council, stressing the need to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East based on all its relevant resolutions, decided this afternoon to extend the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) until 31 January 2003.

SECURITY COUNCIL EXTENDS MANDATE OF UN MISSION IN GEORGIA UNTIL 31 JANUARY 2003


The Security Council, stressing that the continued lack of progress on key issues of a comprehensive settlement of the conflict in Abkhazia, Georgia, was unacceptable, decided this morning to extend the mandate of the United Nations Observer Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG) until 31 January 2003.
