‘Stay the Course’, Build on Progress Already Made, Special Representative Urges Parties to Colombia Peace Accord, in Briefing to Security Council

The United Nations envoy overseeing the implementation of Colombia’s 2016 peace agreement urged its signatories today to stay the course and build upon the progress they have made, even as continuing violence against former rebel fighters and community leaders threatens to derail the historic accord that ended Latin America’s longest-running civil war.

In Times of Global Crises, Collaboration between Regional Organizations, United Nations Has ‘Grown Exponentially’, Secretary-General Tells Security Council

The Security Council encouraged the United Nations and regional and subregional organizations to strengthen their cooperation to prevent and resolve conflicts, improve collective security and maintain international peace and security, as the 15-member organ today convened via videoconference to discuss ways to do just that.

Unanimously Adopting Resolution 2571 (2021), Security Council Extends Measures against Illicit Petroleum Exports from Libya, Panel of Experts’ Mandate

The Security Council, adopting two resolutions through its written silence procedure today, extended the authorization of measures against the illicit export of crude oil and other petroleum products from Libya as well as the mandate of the panel of experts helping to oversee them, while also approving modalities for a new, Libyan-led and Libyan-owned ceasefire monitoring mechanism.
