The Council will hold a briefing under its “Threats to international peace and security” agenda item, after Romania requested the convening of an urgent meeting in a 29 May letter (S/2026/447), in which it said that a Russian drone carrying explosives entered Romanian airspace overnight between 28 and 29 May. The Council’s European members—Denmark, France, Greece, Latvia, and the United Kingdom —supported the meeting request. UN Secretary-General António Guterres is expected to brief.
