NEW YORK, 21 December 2015 (Joint Investigative Mechanism) — The three-member leadership panel of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons-United Nations Joint Investigative Mechanism, led by its Head, Virginia Gamba, was in Damascus on 17 December for meetings with the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic.

On 17 December 2015, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2127 (2013) concerning the Central African Republic approved the following two individuals as subject to the measures imposed by paragraphs 4 and 7 of resolution 2196 (2015):

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Catherine Pollard of Guyana, Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly and Conference Management, as the new Coordinator for Multilingualism, in implementation of General Assembly resolution 69/250.  In this role, Ms. Pollard is responsible for coordinating the overall implementation of multilingualism Secretariat-wide.  This appointment is made pursuant to General Assembly resolutions 54/64 of 1999 and 61/266 of 2007 on the appointment of a senior official as coordinator of questions relating to multilingualism.
