NEW YORK, 27 September (Office of Information and Communications Technology) — The United Nations announced today that the Office of Information and Communications Technology supported Germany on the set‑up of the new Financial Intelligence Unit under the Central Customs Authority in Cologne, dedicated for receiving, collecting and evaluating reports of suspicious financial transactions that might be related to money‑laundering or terrorist financing.

On 1 August 2017, the Security Council decided to update the lists of items, materials, equipment, goods and technology whose supply, sale or transfer to the Islamic Republic of Iran require approval in advance, on a case-by-case basis, by the Security Council, in accordance with paragraph 2 of annex B to resolution 2231 (2015).
The United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific, in cooperation with the Government of Thailand, is organizing a workshop for Member States of the South-East Asian region to tackle the challenges related to the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolution 1540 (2004). This event will be held at the United Nations Building in Bangkok, Thailand, from 27 to 28 September 2017.
