Conscientious Objection to Military Service, Follow-Up to Human Rights 1993 Conference, Human Rights Defenders Discussed

GENEVA, 10 April (UN Information Service) -- The Commission on Human Rights continued its debate on human rights violations throughout the world this morning, with several members decrying what they called an impartial approach on the part of developed countries.
In Press Release ENV/DEV/414 of 10 April the first sentence of the second paragraph on page 1 should read:

While I am pleased that the parties to the conflict in Zaire have accepted the five-point peace plan endorsed by the Security Council, I am concerned that its implementation has not yet begun in earnest. There is no firm cease-fire.
GENEVA, 10 April (UN Information Service) -- The sale of children, child prostitution, child pornography and related issues were discussed this evening by the Commission on Human Rights, with the group's Special Rapporteur on the topic telling the meeting that insensitive handling of victims of such abuses could cause far more anguish than already had been inflicted.
