ADDIS ABABA, 21 July (ECA) -- Geneva-based African negotiators, representatives of regional economic communities, and experts from relevant United Nations agencies kicked off a three-day meeting here today to help prepare African countries for the latest rounds of important global trade forums.

The Preparatory Commission for the International Criminal Court will begin a three-week second session at Headquarters on Monday, 26 July, to continue its elaboration of rules for the effective functioning of the Court.
Committee Also Decides to Apportion $125 Million among Member States
The Secretary-General arrived in Austria on 18 July. He began his official programme the following day with a meeting with Austrian President Thomas Klestil. He was accompanied by Pino Arlacchi, Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna.
The Security Council this morning referred the application of the Kingdom of Tonga for admission to membership in the United Nations to its Committee on Admission of New Members for examination and report.

The Secretary-General arrived in Bratislava from Algeria on the evening of 14 July. This was the first visit by a United Nations Secretary-General to Slovakia since it became independent in January 1993.
