Following is the address of the President of the General Assembly, Harri Holkeri (Finland), at the Forum of Small States, speaking on the role of the Assembly President in reforming and revitalizing the United Nations at Headquarters 15 November:
The Security Council this morning expressed its strong support for a peace agreement concluded on 15 October for the cessation of the hostilities between two groups -- the Malaita Eagle Force and the Isatabu Freedom Movement -- on Solomon Islands.
As the Security Council met today to consider the issue of peacekeeping mission closure and transition, the representative of the United Kingdom said the United Nations was seriously deficient in leadership.
