AD HOC COMMITTEE ON TERRORISM TO NEGOTIATE DIFFERENCE ON COMPREHENSIVE CONVENTION,


NUCLEAR TERRORISM TREATY IN INFORMAL CONSULTATIONS


The Ad Hoc Committee on Measures to Eliminate Terrorism met briefly this afternoon to formally adopt the programme of work for its sixth session which began this morning and ends on 1 February.

Following is the text of this afternoon’s press statement on Madagascar by the President of the Security Council, Jagdish Koonjul (Mauritius):

 

Members of the Security Council expressed concern over the situation of unrest prevailing in Madagascar and the potential for undermining peace and stability in that country in particular and the region as a whole.

AT HEADQUARTERS EVENT


As more and more people left their beaten paths in search of new experiences, the devastating effects of natural tourism on the environment must be minimized, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Louise Fréchette said this morning, at a special event marking the launch of the International Year of Ecotourism.
