Members of the Council received a briefing by the Chairman of the Security Committee established pursuant to resolution 1343 (2001) concerning Liberia, on the Committee’s deliberations in relation to the Panel of Experts report (issued as document S/2001/1015).

Secretary-General Kofi Annan arrived in Managua, Nicaragua, in the afternoon of Thursday, 13 March.

The Human Rights Committee began its annual three-week Headquarters session this morning, with an address made on behalf of the United Nation’s High Commissioner for Human Rights and the adoption of its agenda and work programme.  It also heard progress reports from the chairpersons of its working groups.
