ON SIERRA LEONE, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC

The following press statement was delivered today by Security Council President Jeremy Greenstock (United Kingdom):

We had a useful pair of private meetings this morning in the Security Council.  One on Sierra Leone, the other on the Central African Republic.

The Secretary-General arrived very early on Sunday, 7 July, in the South African port city of Durban from Vienna, Austria, after having made two refuelling stops in Tunis, Tunisia, and Libreville, Gabon.

On 9 July, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1343 (2001) concerning Liberia approved the removal of the following three individuals from the list of persons affected by the measures contained in paragraph 7 of the resolution:

On 8 July 2002, the 1267 Committee approved the deletion of Liban Hussein (Canadian citizen) from its consolidated list (Al-Qaida section).  The Committee’s decision is based on information provided by a Member State.
