The Secretary-General arrived in Dubai on Monday, 28 June 2004, on the first leg of a trip which would take him to Qatar, the Sudan, Chad, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Thailand and Austria.

International treaty on plant genetic resources becomes law
after ratification by 55 states

ROME, 29 June (FAO) -- A crucial legally binding global treaty on sustainable agriculture has become law today, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) announced.
The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture has entered into force, 55 countries having now ratified it.
