Peacekeeping
The Security Council today renewed the mandate of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) for six months until 31 December, adding that there should be no military activity of any kind in the area of separation between Israel and Syria, including Syrian military operations and those conducted by armed opposition groups.
The Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization) approved a draft resolution on peacekeeping today, endorsing the proposals and conclusions of the report of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations. It also elected a Vice-Chair to its Bureau.
The Security Council extended the mandate of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) for another year today, maintaining its 13,289 troops and 1,920 police personnel while requesting that the Secretary-General expedite the generation of forces and assets.
