Oceans and Law of the Sea

At a meeting at United Nations Headquarters in New York, which will last three days, from 17 to 19 June, countries will hold in-depth discussions for the first time since the establishment of the United Nations Open-Ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea, on the implementation of the outcomes of the Consultative Process, including a review of its achievements and shortcomings in its first nine meetings.

The Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea of the Office of Legal Affairs is now accepting applications for the 2010-2011 session of the United Nations–Nippon Foundation of Japan Fellowship Programme. We are pleased to note that during the last five years, 55 awards have been made to nationals of 48 States. The deadline for submissions has been set for 15 August 2009.
