The Food and Agriculture Organization launched a $7.1 million project supported by the Global Environment Facility to make forest data more accessible, transparent and available.  The project aims to help developing countries to meet the Paris Climate Agreement's enhanced transparency requirements, and will benefit 26 targeted countries.

After hearing the oral reports of its working groups, the Sixth Committee (Legal) today approved without a vote three draft resolutions concerning international trade law and one on transboundary harm and allocation of loss.

While pleased with the Board of Auditor’s precise review of the overall healthy financial statements of 18 United nations entities, several delegates today in the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) were troubled by what they viewed as some of these same entities’ lax attitude in carrying out the auditing watchdog’s recommendations.

The United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific is organizing a “Workshop for Pacific Island States on Gun Violence and Illicit Small-Arms Trafficking from a Gender Perspective” in Suva, Fiji, from 12‑15 November.
