Secretary-General Designates Stevie Wonder as United Nations Messenger of Peace

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has designated Grammy Award-winning songwriter and musician Stevie Wonder (United States) as a United Nations Messenger of Peace with a special focus on people with disabilities. His designation will be officially announced at a press conference at United Nations Headquarters on Thursday, 3 December 2009.

General Assembly Will Accept Turkey’s Offer to Host Fourth United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries in 2011, by Second Committee Text

The Second Committee (Economic and Financial) this afternoon approved by consensus three draft resolutions, including texts concerning the Fourth United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries, science and technology for development, and the sustainable development of small island developing States.
