The new Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations, Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces, presented her credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.

Prior to her appointment, Ms. Espinosa served as Special Adviser to the President of the Constitutional Assembly from December 2007 to February 2008 and was Minister for Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Integration from January to December 2007.

An exhibition of cartoon art from around the world, entitled “Cartoon Art for World Peace”, is on display in the Main Gallery of the Visitors’ Lobby and will be formally launched on Thursday, 13 March 2008 at 6 p.m.
