General Assembly Adopts Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Reaffirming Commitment on Protecting Victims, Prosecuting Perpetrators

The General Assembly this afternoon adopted by consensus, as orally revised, a resolution on the United Nations Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons, deciding also to establish a trust fund for victims, especially women and children.

The Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women today reaffirmed its commitment to the spirit of Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security and its integral link to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, as it wrapped up its forty-sixth session.

Seventh Annual Youth Assembly at United Nations Headquarters

The seventh annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations will take place at United Nations Headquarters from 4 to 6 August 2010 in Conference Room 1. The Youth Assembly has been held at the United Nations for the past six years with the sponsorship of various permanent missions to the United Nations. The primary sponsor this year is the Permanent Mission of Finland.

On 30 July 2010 the Security Council Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee concluded the review of its Consolidated List of individuals and entities subject to sanctions measures, undertaken pursuant to paragraph 25 of Security Council resolution 1822 (2008) to ensure that this List is as updated and as accurate as possible and to confirm that listings remain appropriate.
