The Security Council today, reiterating its concern about the fragile security situation in the north of Mali, called for full respect of the ceasefire agreement of 23 May, while welcoming adoption of a road map committing the Government and armed groups of the Ouagadougou accord to hold formal peace talks.

In Cairo, the Secretary-General continued to hold intense discussions with key interlocutors, including the Egyptian Foreign Minister and the United States Secretary of State towards a possible ceasefire in Israel and Gaza. He was also briefed on the humanitarian situation, via video link, by United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine and the Near East staff in Gaza.
