Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the new Head of the United Nations Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER), arrived in Accra, Ghana, on Saturday.  Along with the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Ebola, Dr. David Nabarro, Mr. Ahmed will visit Liberia and Sierra Leone this week, after which he will then travel to Guinea.

Security Council Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee Deletes Two Individuals from Its Sanctions List

On 2 January 2015, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011) concerning Al-Qaida and associated individuals and entities removed the names below from the Al-Qaida Sanctions List after concluding its consideration of the delisting requests for these names submitted through the Office of the Ombudsperson established pursuant to Security Council resolution 1904 (2009), and after considering the Comprehensive Reports of the Ombudsperson on these delisting requests.

Security Council Committee Concerning the Central African Republic Removes One Individual from Its Sanctions List

On 31 December 2014, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2127 (2013) concerning the Central African Republic removed the name below from its sanctions list after concluding its consideration of the delisting requests for this name.
