More than 130 Students from 30 Countries to Attend Three-Day Model United Nations Workshop at Headquarters

The Outreach Division of the Department of Public Information will host a three-day Model United Nations workshop on 6, 7 and 9 November 2015 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.  Students who have participated in a Model United Nations conference at the high school or university level, as well as students and advisers who have had a leadership role in organizing a conference, will take part.  More than 130 students from 30 countries will attend.

Libya’s leaders had a unique opportunity to reach a political settlement that would spare their people further bloodshed, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative in that country told the Security Council today, emphasizing that the recently negotiated Political Agreement sought to create a viable middle ground upon which all stakeholders could meet.

Second Committee Introduces 17 Draft Resolutions, Including Text on Raising Public Awareness of Tsunamis, Building Back Better

General Assembly Adopts Resolution Welcoming ‘Ark of Return’ as Permanent Memorial to Victims of Slavery, Transatlantic Slave Trade

The General Assembly would welcome the erection of the Ark of Return — the permanent memorial to honour the victims of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade — in a prominent place at United Nations Headquarters that would be easily accessible to delegates, staff and visitors, according to a draft resolution it adopted today.
