Delegates Conclude Discussions on Marine Genetic Resources, as Intergovernmental Conference Drafting Treaty under Law of Sea Convention Continues

Delegates today concluded their discussions addressing marine genetic resources, before returning to the topic of area-based management tools, including marine protected areas, as the intergovernmental conference tasked with drafting a legally binding treaty under the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea governing maritime diversity in ocean waters beyond national jurisdiction entered its eighth day.

Security Council ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee Revises Its Guidelines

On 5 September 2018, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) concerning ISIL (Da’esh), Al‑Qaida and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities adopted revised Guidelines for the Conduct of its Work (“Guidelines”).  The Guidelines were revised in compliance with paragraph 45 of Security Council resolution 2368 (2017), which directed the Committee to review its Guidelines.
