Organization Releases Chinese-Language Edition of Latest ‘Basic Facts About the United Nations’

The United Nations has issued the Chinese version of the forty-second edition of Basic Facts about the United Nations, marking the publication of the trusted guidebook in all six official languages – the others being Arabic, English, French, Russian and Spanish – as a keystone of the Organization’s multilingual outreach.

General Assembly Rejects Resolution Calling for Strengthening Russian-United States Compliance with Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty

The Assembly today rejected a resolution which would have called on the Russian Federation and United States to strengthen compliance for the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), and elected members to various bodies, including one judge to the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.

Security Council 2206 Committee Calls upon Member States to Observe Implementation of Travel Ban, Asset Freeze and Arms Embargo Concerning South Sudan

In connection with the interim report of the Panel of Experts on South Sudan dated 26 November 2018 (S/2018/1049), members of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2206 (2015) concerning South Sudan wish to remind all Member States of their obligations to implement the sanctions measures in support of an inclusive and sustainable peace in South Sudan; namely, the targeted travel and financial measures imposed by paragraph 9 (travel ban) and 12 (asset freeze) of resolution 2206 (2015), and the arms embargo imposed by paragraph 4 of resolution 2428 (2018).
