United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Yokohama, Japan, from France on the afternoon of Tuesday, 27 August.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Biarritz, France, on the morning of Sunday, 25 August, to take part in the annual G7 summit.

The international community must build on August’s Eid al-Adha humanitarian truce in Libya with a strong and unequivocal message that emphasizes respect for the arms embargo, non-interference in Tripoli’s affairs and support for whatever political future Libyans might agree to, the top United Nations official in the country told the Security Council today.

The Security Council will convene two ministerial meetings in September, the first on cooperation between the United Nations and regional organizations and the second on peace and security in Africa, Vassily A. Nebenzia (Russian Federation), its President for September, said today.

The Yemen office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights confirmed that 52 detainees were among those killed when air strikes hit a former community college compound on the northern outskirts of Dhamar City, United Nations teams in the country reported on Sunday.  As many as 170 detainees were being held there.
