The Security Council decided today to renew the sanctions regime concerning the Democratic Republic of the Congo until 1 July 2025, and the mandate of the corresponding Group of Experts until 1 August 2025.

Recent escalation in the Middle East — particularly between Israel and Hizbullah along the Blue Line — is concerning, the head of United Nations peace efforts in the region told the Security Council today, as he also warned that ongoing hostilities in Gaza are further fuelling regional instability.

The General Assembly today urged accelerated action to reduce deaths and injuries from traffic accidents worldwide by implementing the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030.
